Bias in AI Projects Across the CPMAI Framework
with Michael Krahn, CPA, CMA, CHFP, CSCA, PMP, PMI-ACP, CPMAI

This session builds on a prior PMI discussion of CPMAI as a framework for governing AI initiatives.

The presentation examines how bias in AI projects often emerges through everyday delivery decisions made across the project lifecycle, not just through models or algorithms. Using the CPMAI framework, the session shows how project managers can recognize and manage bias at each phase, from problem framing through deployment and use.

To keep the discussion practical and PM-relevant, the webinar uses a non-generative, decision-support AI project example, focusing on governance, learning, and go/no-go decision points that PMs directly influence.

Participants will learn:

  • Where bias commonly enters AI initiatives across CPMAI phases
  • How go/no-go checkpoints act as bias controls
  • How documentation and learning reduce repeated bias
  • How PMs serve as stewards of intent, risk, and trust in AI work
