The Correct Level of Documentation
facilitated by Joseph Carfagno, PMP

PMI states that “the correct level of documentation is one that balances detail with clarity, ensuring that all necessary information is captured without overwhelming stakeholders with unnecessary details. It should facilitate smooth project execution and compliance, while also being adaptable to the project's complexity and requirements. Proper documentation is essential for effective project management, aiding in communication, compliance, and project success.”

How do you maintain your project documentation? Do you have regulatory requirements to maintain documentation? What do you do when requirements for your project change? Is all of your documentation formatted consistently? Do you use templates? Where is it published? How has Agile changed your level of documentation? Do you use AI to create your documentation? I used PMI Infinity to write the first paragraph.

What challenges do you face with documentation? Does your organization create too much documentation?  not enough? Are stakeholders using the documentation?

Bring your insights, opinions, war stories, suggestions for action, or just plain curiosity about The Correct Level of Documentation.
